Obiekt zestawu rekordów
Obiekt ADO Recordset służy do przechowywania zestawu rekordów z tabeli bazy danych. Obiekt Recordset składa się z rekordów i kolumn (pól).
W ADO ten obiekt jest najważniejszy i najczęściej używany do manipulacji danymi z bazy danych.

Gdy po raz pierwszy otworzysz Recordset, bieżący wskaźnik rekordu będzie wskazywał na pierwszy rekord, a właściwości BOF i EOF mają wartość False. Jeśli nie ma żadnych rekordów, właściwości BOF i EOF mają wartość True.
Obiekty Recordset mogą obsługiwać dwa typy aktualizacji:
- Natychmiastowa aktualizacja — wszystkie zmiany są zapisywane w bazie danych natychmiast po wywołaniu metody Update.
- Aktualizacja wsadowa — dostawca zapisze w pamięci podręcznej wiele zmian, a następnie wyśle je do bazy danych za pomocą metody UpdateBatch.
W ADO zdefiniowane są 4 różne typy kursorów:
- Kursor dynamiczny — pozwala zobaczyć dodatki, zmiany i usunięcia dokonane przez innych użytkowników.
- Kursor zestawu kluczy — podobny do dynamicznego kursora, z tą różnicą, że nie widać dodatków innych użytkowników i uniemożliwia dostęp do rekordów usuniętych przez innych użytkowników. Zmiany danych wprowadzone przez innych użytkowników będą nadal widoczne.
- Kursor statyczny — zapewnia statyczną kopię zestawu rekordów, którą można wykorzystać do wyszukiwania danych lub generowania raportów. Dodatki, zmiany lub usunięcia dokonane przez innych użytkowników nie będą widoczne. Jest to jedyny typ kursora dozwolony podczas otwierania obiektu Recordset po stronie klienta.
- Kursor tylko do przodu — umożliwia tylko przewijanie do przodu zestawu rekordów. Dodatki, zmiany lub usunięcia dokonane przez innych użytkowników nie będą widoczne.
Typ kursora można ustawić za pomocą właściwości CursorType lub parametru CursorType w metodzie Open.
Uwaga: Nie wszyscy dostawcy obsługują wszystkie metody lub właściwości obiektu Recordset.
