Definicja i użycie

Właściwość alt ustawia lub zwraca wartość atrybutu alt obrazu.

Wymagany atrybut alt określa tekst alternatywny dla obrazu, jeśli obraz z jakiegoś powodu nie może zostać wyświetlony (z powodu wolnego połączenia, błędu w atrybucie src lub jeśli użytkownik korzysta z czytnika ekranu).

Uwaga: Internet Explorer wyświetla wartość atrybutu alt jako etykietkę narzędzia po najechaniu kursorem na element <img>. To NIE jest prawidłowe zachowanie, zgodnie ze specyfikacją HTML. Wszystkie inne przeglądarki przestrzegają specyfikacji i wyświetlają tekst alternatywny tylko wtedy, gdy nie można wyświetlić obrazu.

Porada: Jeśli chcesz utworzyć etykietę narzędzia dla obrazu, użyj globalnego atrybutu title.
