Funkcje FTP dają klientowi dostęp do serwerów plików za pośrednictwem protokołu przesyłania plików (FTP).
Funkcje FTP służą do otwierania, logowania i zamykania połączeń, a także przesyłania, pobierania, zmiany nazwy, usuwania i pobierania informacji o plikach z serwerów plików. Nie wszystkie funkcje FTP będą działać na każdym serwerze lub zwracać te same wyniki. Funkcje FTP stały się dostępne w PHP 3.
