PHP posiada zestaw słów kluczowych, które są słowami zastrzeżonymi, których nie można używać jako nazw funkcji, nazw klas lub nazw metod. Przed PHP 7 te słowa kluczowe nie mogły być używane jako nazwy właściwości klasy:
